The Clausura MX 2024 has already defined its grand final after Club América and Cruz Azul won their respective series and advanced to the last step in the fight for the title. 

The Águilas qualified for this stage of the Liga MX for the second consecutive semester and will defend the title they won six months ago. Once again, they dealt a blow to the Rebaño, who will continue to be unchampioned. 

André Jardine’s project continues to bear fruit, and a possible championship would make the elimination from the Concacaf Champions Cup a thing of the past. 

For their part, the Máquina Cementera left Monterrey out of the competition despite losing at home. 

The team coached by Martín Anselmi could finish second in the round-robin, as they advanced by positional advantage. 

América and Cruz Azul will replay the 2013 Mexican soccer final when the champion ended up being the Azulcrema team.

After the 0-0 draw in the first leg at the Akron stadium, the Azteca was painted in yellow to take Club América to another final, beating Chivas de Guadalajara 1-0 in the derby. 

The interesting thing about this game is that Rebaño was very good in the first half and had the best chances to score, but the champion knows how to suffer and strike at the right moment, as happened in the second half. 

In the 60th minute, a loose ball ended in a cross into the area, Igor Lichnovsky then sent the ball into the small area, and there, Israel Reyes appeared to score the only goal of the match.

Suffering was present for 90 minutes at the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium, but Cruz Azul, despite losing 2-1 to Monterrey, advanced to the Mexican soccer final.

Cruz Azul, in Anselmi’s first semester as coach, is looking for a new title since 2021 and, above all, to give joy to a fan base that is used to suffering in the recent past.
