The Surf Ranch hosted the Founder’s Cup in 2018, which was the first event open to the public. Its influence has gained so much attention that there are hints that the Olympics may be held in a wave pool someday in the future. After the Australian leg, the TC marches inland for the June 18-20 Jeep Surf Ranch Pro. After an explosive two months in Australia, the Championship Tour heads to the United States for the unique event of the season, the Jeep Surf Ranch Pro. It was contested in the perfect 700-yard waves of the course. We’ll see who can challenge WSL Rankings leaders and previous event champions, Gabriel Medina and Carissa Moore.

Men’s Jeep Surf Ranch Pro:

Gabriel Medina: started his season by reaching the Finals at the first stop in Hawaii and making three more Finals during the Australian leg, winning in Newcastle and Rottnest. The two-time World Champion has an 8,000-point lead on the WSL leaderboard over his nearest rival and compatriot, Italo Ferreira (BRA). Medina is one of the favorites heading into this event after winning the last two CT contests at the Surf Ranch. 

Italo Ferreira is one of the big favorites at the Jeep Surf Ranch Pro held in El Salvador. And on the horizon already loom the Tokyo 2020 Games, where surfing will be one of the main novelties of the program and where the Brazilian will aspire to become the first Olympic champion in this sport. 

Women’s Jeep Surf Ranch Pro:

Carissa Moore: She has a firm grip on the Final 5 thanks to a solid and consistent first half of the season. The reigning four-time WSL champion has finished third or better in every event this year, including a win in Newcastle, putting her more than 7,000 points ahead of World No. 2 Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS). Moore also has a solid record at Surf Ranch, winning the event in 2018 and finishing third in 2019. 

Tatiana Weston-Webb: will continue to ‘Fight for the Final 5’ at Jeep Surf Ranch Pro in the final event before the Olympics, as she currently accumulates 27,540 points to take third place behind Sally Fitzgibbons, so this will be a significant event for the future.
