It’s been nearly 20 years since Siegfried & Roy entertained their last fans at ‘The Mirage’ on the Las-Vegas Strip. In the coming year, Apple TV+ viewers will again have the opportunity to be dazzled by the magic duo.
Siegfried & Roy were Las Vegas essentials that entertained audiences for years on the Strip. The duo’s magic program was best known for incorporating white lions and tigers into the efficiency.
The curtain fell on The Mirage casino on Oct. 3, 2003, when Roy Horn was attacked by a seven-year-old white tiger called Mantacore. The event ended Horn’s profession after the attack ultimately hindered his motor and spoken abilities.
Officials spared Mantacore’s life since Horn said en route to the healthcare facility, “Mantacore is a terrific cat. Make certain no damage concerns him.”.
Siegfried & Roy claimed Mantacore dragging Horn off the stage was the tiger’s response to a medical emergency Horn experienced during the program. Roy competed that Mantacore was reacting to Roy having a stroke on phase. The feline, Roy declared, was attempting to drag him to security.
The attack, which resulted in Horn’s spinal column being severed, losing vast amounts of blood, and being left partly paralyzed, led to The Mirage shuttering Siegfried & Roy. Throughout their long run in Las Vegas, the press routinely cited Siegfried & Roy as headlining Las Vegas’ most-attended show.
Scripted Series.
Nineteen years have passed, considering that Siegfried & Roy were in phase. Horn passed away at 81 on May 8, 2020, after a short battle with pancreatic-cancer. Amongst the flood of Roy Horn tributes was Penn Jillette of Penn & Teller popularity, who credited Siegfried & Roy for proving that magic belonged on the Strip.
Siegfried & Roy created, produced, and originated the idea that a magic show could be a whole night in Vegas. If not for ‘S&R’, there would not be ‘P&T’ in Las Vegas,” Penn said.
Apple TV+ viewers will soon have an informative look at the profession of Siegfried & Roy. The yet-to-be-titled half-hour scripted series will record the life and career of the esteemed Las-Vegas entertainers.
The series is being executive-produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer of ‘Imagine Entertainment’. The ‘Only Murders in the Building’ creator John Hoffman is writing and even executive producing.
The production is based on the popular eight-part Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy podcast released in January 2022. A cast has not yet been revealed.
Lions Long Gone.
Numerous trips to Las Vegas included eventually seeing a live tiger or lion during the stay. Whether it was Siegfried & Roy’s cats or the lion environment inside MGM Grand, Visitors for several years delighted in seeing the large animals up close.
But those days have passed, as today, the Siegfried & Roy reveal disappears, and MGM Grand evicted its four-legged tenants in early 2012.
