Dondol Stars manager Vincent Rammoni has stressed that his team's top priority is promotion to the Abc Motsepe League and that he will not be distracted by the club's strong performance in the Nedbank Cup.

Rammoni and his team have been here breathed fresh air into the Dream Cup of the season, where they beat DStv Premiership clubs SuperSport United and AmaZulu in the last two rounds to reach a quarter-finals tie against the Orlando Pirates at the weekend.

It's a fairy tale many South African footballers dream of but Rammoni has insisted his players stay humble and down to earth lest they be distracted from the main focus of the 2022/23 season.

"The priority is winning the championship," said coach Dondol on Thursday.

“The priority is to win the championship and make the playoffs and promotion.

“This is the biggest, biggest goal we have and strive for.

“How far will we go in the Nedbank Cup… of course if there's a chance of winning it we'll do it like others have done before.

“One thing is… We have a lot of good players. It's always easy for us managers to make changes, rest some players, bring others because we believe that all the players we signed this season will do their job.

“We are not a coincidence because of what happened at Nedbank, we are still the same team that started the 2022/23 ABC Motsepe League season with the same goals and we are constantly working towards our goals to reach.

“I believe that with players we have more chances to rise and rise. We just have to make sure our players stay grounded and keep playing no matter how difficult the situation gets.

Dondol Stars currently runs the Gauteng feed in the Abc Motsepe League, which also includes former Premier Soccer League giants Jomo Cosmos and Highlands Park. If they win their show, they compete to qualify for the national playoffs.

This week, however, their focus is on the Nedbank Cup, where they meet the Pirates in the quarter-finals at 3pm on Saturday.
