John Romero Releases New Doom Level After 21 Years

They say that good things come to those who wait, and for folks who have a soft spot for old school games, surely Doom would be one of them, and this seminal FPS title has just received a huge shot in its arm when John Romero, one of the developers of Doom, made available his very first new level for Doom in more than two decades – 21 years, to be exact. Best of all is, this particular level will be made available to the masses for free via Dropbox, a file-sharing site.

Apparently, this level was made as a “warm up” for a new project, although we have no idea what this new project is. In fact, Doom has continued to be a cult gaming title with its own dedicated community of players up till this day who continue to churn out their own content.

The latest level will be known as “Tech Gone Bad”, where it happens to be a boss level that will feature a different kind of climactic fight, where gamers end up in a huge complex which carries a massive computer room that will link it to other portals and “hell cracks” in the floor, merging both indoor and outdoor scenarios to bring you the best of both worlds.
