Moto Z Droid Edition Comes With 2 Years Free Original Google Photos Storage

Yesterday the Moto Z and Moto Z Force handsets were announced. At the same time the Moto Z Droid Edition handsets were also announced and they are essentially the same device, except that given the Droid moniker, these phones are destined for Verizon. Now it seems that there will also be a difference in features.

According to a report from Android Police, it seems that one of the more compelling reasons to get the Droid Edition would be the fact that the phone will come with 2 years access to Google Photos Originals storage. What this means is that users can upload photos that are sized more than 16MP.

Note that as it stands users can already upload such photos, but it does eat into your storage which means that if and when you run out, you’ll have to pay for it. In this case, Google/Lenovo are giving you the storage for free, something that we learnt about back in May, although it seemed to be targeted at Nexus handsets. Based on this we guess we can expect similar deals for other handsets moving forward.

That being said this is a limited time promotion. Customers will have to claim their free storage by March 31, 2017. The 2 year countdown is also expected to begin the moment you start backing up your original sized photos.
