During a recent LG G5 torture test, YouTuber JerryRigEverything discovered something interesting and potentially controversial about the Phone. One of the features LG was boasting about was that the LG G5 was made using Metal, but scratching beneath the surface it was revealed that there were some Plastic components, and that maybe the phone wasn’t truly made of metal as LG had claimed.

Now if this kind of put you off, you can rest assured that there is no marketing gimmick or lie here. In a Statement LG issued to the folks at Android Authority, the company reassures customers that the LG G5 is made from metal, and that the portion scratched and revealed in the video is actually not plastic, but rather it is primer and the reason for hiding it is so that the phone will offer up a clean look.

This is versus Apple’s recent iPhones in which the plastic antenna breaks are kind of ugly. According to LG’s statement, they claim that this is so that “the insulative antenna is invisibly integrated into the body without disrupting the seamless look of the metal uni-body.” So hopefully LG’s statement will be enough to let their customers know that there is nothing shady going on, just a design choice that seemed to have been blown a bit out of proportion.
