Nissan has issued a recall for almost 47,000 of its Leaf Electric Cars, 46,859 to be precise, the recall includes Leaf models from 2013 to 2015 and has been issued because of potential braking issues. The Leaf might encounter trouble braking in extremely cold weather, and since braking is essential to the safety of the passengers and their fellow road users, Nissan has decided to issue this big recall to address the issue.

Nissan has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that in order to fix the issue, the computer inside the electronics Brake Booster needs to be reprogrammed.

The Leaf will be able to brake in extremely cold weather but it may require a lot more effort. Nissan is going to address this issue by reprogramming the Electronic Brake Booster in the Leaf.

The company has said that it has previously notified customers about this issue through a service campaign but understanding the severity of this issue it has decided to upgrade it to a full recall.

Customers with affected vehicles will have to take their Leaf into a Nissan dealer to have the electronic brake booster checked out and reprogrammed so as to ensure that their car doesn’t encounter any braking troubles in extremely cold weather. It’s always best to be safe than sorry, so do take your car in if you own a Leaf that’s affected by this issue.
