Google Maps is great for public transport directions, like in countries such as Japan where it can tell you which train to take, where to change trains, and so on to get to your destination. However sometimes when you’re in a foreign country or an area you’re unfamiliar, sometimes these directions aren’t enough.
However according to a report from TechCrunch (via 9to5Google), it appears that Google is testing out a new feature for Google Maps on Android, where it will provide users with real-time updates in the app, along with notifications so that you know when to get off the bus or train, depending on your mode of transport.
This will come in handy if like we said, you’re unfamiliar with the area and can’t recognize any landmarks, or if you’re sleepy and would love to sleep during the trip and not miss your stop. However it seems that the feature is currently in testing, which means that we’re not even sure if this is something that Google wants to forge ahead with.
