Google Maps has more or less been the only proper navigation solution available to Android Auto users but that changes today. Waze is finally available on Android Auto starting today. Users can tap into the crowd-sourced service to get real-time information while they’re making their way from one point to another. Those who have used Waze for a long time on mobile devices will be glad that it’s finally available on Android Auto.

Waze is also a good alternative for those who want to use a navigation app other than Google Maps in their car. Waze now has native support for the larger in-car displays of Android Auto systems, whether native from a car manufacturer or a third-party system.

The Android Auto iteration of Waze is basically a simplified version of the smartphone app. The company has worked with the Android Auto user experience team and conducted months of driver testing to properly tune the app to the larger screen.

Since Waze is all about crowd-sourced information, drivers will be able to easily report traffic conditions using Waze on Android Auto. There’s a big button in the lower right-hand corner that can be used to easily report police presence, a crash, traffic or a road hazard.
