HoloLens China Release Confirmed For 2017

The Hololens augmented reality headset has been released in a couple of markets already and Microsoft has now confirmed when it’s going to be released in China. Microsoft made the announcement at the WinHEC event in Shenzhen, China where it also made some other very interesting announcements. The company has confirmed the HoloLens release for China, it’s going to take place next year.

The Hololens Augmented Reality headset went up for pre-order in the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Germany, New Zealand, and Australia back in October. It also started offering it in Japan by the end of last month.

Microsoft says that HoloLens will be released in China in the first half of next year. The company has submitted the device for government approval and when that’s granted it’s going to start selling it to developers and enthusiasts in the country.

The company says that developers and commercial consumers will be able to purchase HoloLens. It’s likely going to be the same Development Edition variant of the HoloLens that Microsoft is already selling in a handful of markets.

No word as yet on how much the HoloLens headset is going to be priced in China but it’s certainly going to be pricey. This isn’t a product intended for the mass market as yet but it may very well be at some point in the not too distant future.
