Overwatch Free-To-Play Weekend Is Now Live

overwatch-reaper-screenshot-005A little over a week ago, Blizzard announced that Gamers interested in trying out Overwatch would be able to do so for free over the weekend from the 9th to the 12th of September. If you are interested in checking out the game, it looks like the free-to-play weekend is now live and all you’ll have to do is download it.

However we should point out that this is only available to console gamers. PS4 gamers will be able to find a copy of the free version of Overwatch in the PlayStation Store where it is called “Overwatch Free Weekend”. It is sized at 9GB and you won’t need a PS Plus subscription to play the game.

As for Xbox One gamers, you’ll find the game in the Xbox Store called “Overwatch Origins Edition Free Weekend” which is sized at 15GB. Unlike the PS4, Xbox One gamers will need a subscription to Xbox Live Gold in order to play the game. We should also point out that the free version is not the complete version of the game.

Granted you’ll have full access to the roster, maps, and different game modes, but certain features like Achievements and Trophies won’t be available. You will still be able to earn XP and loot boxes and your progress will be saved should you decide to upgrade to the full version of the game. No word on whether Blizzard will introduce a similar free weekend for PC gamers, but for now it looks like it will be console-only.
