The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is back again in the news and this time, there is more information about the specifications that can be found in the handset. It has been rumoured that the Phone will feature many of 2017’s features, but the most recent leak of the phone indicates that the upcoming device may not be as powerful as we had hoped.
Benchmarking site Geekbench listed the device with a single-core score of 1403 and a multi-core score of 2949. The listing shows a new kind of processor that will be featured in the phone – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617, which is a relatively new chipset than the ones we have seen in the past and considering its model number, it is likely that it will be placed below the 660.
The listing does mention that the phone will be a little more powerful than the Moto G4. The chipset also scores higher than the Vivo X9 Plus, which sports a Snapdragon 653. So, there is hope that the phone will have decent mid-range power compared to its contemporaries
The phone will also feature Android Nougat 7.1 and will come with a 5.5-inch or 6-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and minimal bezels on the sides. It is likely that Xiaomi may have had to compromise on specifications and power in order to keep the price of the phone low. The phone is likely to come with a metal unibody design as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The handset will come with 3GB of RAM.
In the optics department, the phone is speculated to feature a dual camera setup on the back consisting of a 16MP sensor with a 5MP sensor. It will also feature two SIM card slots, as well as a beefy 4,000mAh battery, along with a headphone jack.
While the Note 4 was launched only in January this year, the phone has become on the largest selling smartphones in the countries it is sold at, especially in places like India. With the addition of 2017 features that will offer better functionality and looks, the Redmi Note 5 will be a fitting successor to the Note 4. It is also likely that the phone will be released in early 2018.
The phone may launch in the coming days, but that is subject to official confirmation by the company. For the price of just $150, the hefty battery and the dual-cameras should make for a popular choice.
