Sony’s new line-up of Xperia smartphones are shaping up to become great pieces of technology and it seems like the company will be revelling its former glory days of being one of the hottest smartphone companies in the world. The Xperia range of smartphones have always offered fan favorite features that to this day are still yearned for in other flagships, such as the dedicated shutter button and smooth interface. There is now more reason for fans to be excited since new leaks have provided more information regarding Sony’s newest upcoming flagship, the Xperia XZ1.

Live pictures of the smartphone have been leaked online, courtesy of SonyXperiaAilesi. The images show the phone in every possible angle to discern that physical proportions and the features that will come with the smartphone. Like all Xperia phones unfortunately, the design is barely any different from past handsets in the line-up. The phone resembles very closely to the Xperia XZ Premium, albeit a little smaller. It will retain the other typical features of the line-up such as the side-mounted power button-cum-fingerprint sensor.

The images of the phone show the sticker on the display that feature the supposed internal specifications of the handset such as a 5.2-inch HDR display, a Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a 19MP camera at the rear capable of taking 960fps slow-motion video recording and a 13MP front-facing camera. The phone will also feature front-facing stereo speakers. The handset will also be IP65/IP68 water and dust resistant. Feature-wise, there is barely any difference between this phone and the Xperia XZ Premium, but then again, the specifications are still in the flagship category, but will probably be offered at a different price-point that should be more than enough for consumers to consider.

It is likely that the phone will be announced at the IFA in Berlin later this month and will officially be made available from September 10. Regarding the display’s resolution, it can be safe to assume that the Sony will stick to providing a 1080p panel. Considering that the Note 8 will be released soon, but will still lack the Xperia charm, as will the upcoming iPhone 8, there might be some reason to still consider acquiring the Xperia line-up. Sony has yet to dabble in the dual-camera department as of yet, and the Xperia XZ1 seems to have been a missed opportunity.
