GoPro Fusion: What to expect from the upcoming 360-degree camera

GoPro teased one of their new developments recently about a product called the Gopro Fusion – new 360-degree Camera that will be added to the company’s stellar cams. The company has been continuously teasing the camera on their website but has not revealed much about the specifications of the camera.

The most notable feature that GoPro have divulged about the camera is that it will feature 5.2K resolution in capture mode. Other publishers such as Engadget have already posted samples of the camera showcasing what the Fusion camera can offer. From what can be known by earlier impressions, the GoPro Fusion looks much like the Hero5 Black, only, it is a little larger since the Fusion needs to accommodate two cameras instead of one. The Hero5 is also rectangular in shape while the Fusion is square shape. It can also be noticed that the Fusion houses a small LCD screen to show important details such as the mode of the camera and battery information among other things.

Reports state the unit will have 180-degree camera on the front and a similar one on the back. They will be behind concave glasses but will be slightly jutting out. On the front of the camera will also be the quick capture button to start recording or taking photos. On the right of the device is a mode/highlight button. Below the unit is the multi-accessory mount. Although the megapixel count on the cameras is not yet known, the unit will be able to feature OverCapture shots that allow for users to take an entire 360-degree image and then later be able to adjust the angle, panning, zooming and transitions of the shot. Through this feature, content can be appreciated on VR and on a flat-screen as well. The camera will also be water-proof, even though it wasn’t explicitly mentioned by the company, the phone has been seen submerged in water in a promotional event. The camera is also said to feature GPS. It’s also suspected that the camera could come with some voice control abilities as well

As far as pricing is concerned, there has not been much information as to how much GoPro plans on pricing the Fusion. Other similar cameras offered by competitors are usually offered in the range of $250-$350, meaning the Fusion could also be expected to fall under this price bracket. For a camera that promises to offer lenses that are the equivalent of six normal GoPro cameras, such a USP at a convincing price would make buyers reach for their wallets immediately.
