Galaxy Note 8 could miss the embed fingerprint scanner

The Galaxy Note 8 was set to be the first Samsung phone with an embedded fingerprint scanner, but Samsung may have failed to produce the scanner in time. The Galaxy S8 duo suffered the same fate, resulting in customer outcry.

Samsung failed to put an embedded scanner in the S8. Instead, they opted for an awkward placement that resulted in customer outcry. With the Note 8, they seem to have followed the industry norm. The sensor is circular, placed below the cameras.

However, it’s not all bad news. The Note 8 should introduce a dual camera setup for Samsung. Samsung aligned the cameras vertically, which makes a  case for 3D AR content. Also, the device will feature dual speakers.

A Samsung Electronics official said,

We made every effort to install a display-integrated fingerprint sensor on Galaxy Note 8, but we decided not to install it on this strategic phone due to various technical limitations such as security.

Even for Apple, this has proved to be tough. According to one Redditor, the iPhone 7S may feature a rear touch ID. The iPhone 8 has been rumoured to feature an embedded touch ID, making it an industry first.

The Galaxy Note is the pinnacle of Samsung engineering, being the first to introduce new features. With the Note 8, we expect them to recover from the burns of the Note 7. The Note 7 is also returning as the Galaxy Note FE, but only in South Korea.
