There is a breakthrough in the ATM Technology,phones can be used now  to get money out of the ATM by taping a phone on it. This technology breakthrough can be in use  for Customers of U.K. bank Barclays by the beginning of the new year.

Customers  will need to download the Barclays android application on which the customer in the ATM que will input the amount they want to withdraw and obviously their pin. After that , a thirty seconds window is open for  tapping the phone on the ATM . The money comes out after tapping .The taping is because of the technology in use called  NFC.

The taping of ATM   can also be done by the use of bank card . when using the card all the details are entered on the ATM like before .Use of the card arises certain disadvantages .

1. That of waiting for the card to spat out and
2. to wait for the person in front of you to finish for you to start the transaction.

The smart phone use is aimed at reducing the energy sapping time  of waiting .

potential setbacks

1. When the new year arrives ,the customers will be allowed to withdraw at most a hundred pounds.   customers may need more than a hundred pounds.
2. During its earlier  days the technology will on be available at machines inside the bran .This means limited to bank open hours only.

what is NFC?

It is a communication protocol that enables interaction of 2 or more  devices in close proximity. it is an improvement to the RFID technology .The NFC chip is activated by another chip in its vicinity. Data can now be sent to the other device.
