LTE MIFi Alcatel EE40 Review

Alcatel EE40 is one of the LTE CAT4 Mobile hotspot from Alcatel family, there are other LTE CAT4 MiFi devices like EE60, Y853, Y854, Y855, Y858 and more. It was award the one of the most wanted mobile broadband portable router in 2016. However, many people don’t know much about this LTE MiFi, here we will have a review of EE40 for you.

Unbox Alcatel EE40

Once opened, insert a nano SIM card into the SIM slot (can only nano sim) then power the EE40 on by pressing and holding the power button until the blue Indicator LED lights up at the same time.

LED Indicator

With an elegant design, there are some LED indicator in front of the Alcatel EE40 MiFi. At the bottom row there are indicators for 4G, 3G and SMS info. Then on the top line there is a Signal Strength Indicator. As shown from the image above, the signal strength indicator shows only 1 bar with a 3G indicator, which means the 3G signal is not so strong. If the 4G signal is strong, 4G indicator would turn blue and the 3G indicator off. In addition, there is an indicator of the EE letter logo that lights up every few seconds and there is also a battery indicator.

Network Bands & Speed
The pocket mini Wi-Fi EE40 is significantly smaller and fits into your pocket. The 1500mAh battery would offer up to 6 operating hours for you and 50 hours stand-by time. It could support 4G, 3G and 2G network band simultaneously. The supported network bands are:
4G BAND: LTE 800 / 1800 / 2600 MHz
3G BAND: DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS 900 / 1800 / 2100 MHz
2G BAND: GSM/GPRS/EDGE/1800/1900 MHz

As a LTE CAT4 modem, it can support maximum download speed of 150mbps and upload speed of 50Mbps under LTE network. As for 3G network, the fastest download speed can up to 43.2Mbps, and the upload speed up to 5.76Mbps.

Operation
This EE40 Wi-Fi router is really easy to operate. Just insert the SIM card and then turn on the modem. As it is unlocked for all mobile providers with the supported bands. After powering on, it will search for mobile network directly. If it cannot search for the mobile internet, you just set the APN for your specified ISP. With a few minutes, it will broadcast WiFi signal with the standard name for this mifi is MYWIFIxxx with the xxx password that can be viewed on KEEP ME CARD card on the purchase completeness book or from the back side of the modem. Just connect to the WiFi it will enables you to connect to mobile internet in minutes.

Configuration
If you configure the EE40 router, please type the address http://192.168.1.1 at the Internet explorer bar to access the Wi-Fi configuration. It will ask you to enter the log in username and password. After filling the info click the login to the WEBGUI to do the settings. It is really easy to do the settings.
