The NDLEA in Nigeria to a large extent has succeeded in cutting down the supply of illegal and hard drugs in Nigeria, and other substances of abuse, tracing and arresting the drug barons, discovering smuggled drug and other related items. Indeed the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has immensely contributed to the creation and maintenance of an enviable image for Nigeria in the African continent and the world at large.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Recruitment 2016 of about 5000 new staff into the NDLEA in 2016 and an additional 10,000 staff before the end of 2017. This disclosure was made by the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

You can recall that earlier this year, there was a rumour that stated that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Recruitment 2016 had begun, but the NDLEA came out to debunk such rumours.

Mr. Malami, who spoke at the ECOWAS ministers meeting, said there are plans by the federal government to improve the capacity of the agency in relation to fighting crimes in the region.

He urged member countries’ ministers to adopt the new ECOWAS Regional Drug Action Plan, for the year 2016-2020, stating that it provides a roadmap and working document for the ECOWAS drug control team.

While commending Nigeria’s effort to tackle drug trafficking at the national level, the ECOWAS director in charge of Drug Control, Sintiki Ugbe, said the Nigerian government has shown political commitment by approving the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Recruitment 2016 of workers to widen the NDLEA capacity and further develop a national drug control master plan.

“We see and applaud that kind of political commitment in the region. We also want to see the translation of political commitment into real actions,” said Mr. Ugbe.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Recruitment 2016 would be employing about 5000 Nigerian job seekers before the end of 2016 and an additional 10,000 job seekers before the end of 2017 thereby adding an extra 15,000 people to the NDLEA manpower.

While we’re still waiting for the date of the recruitment to be announced as well as the portal that will be used for the recruitment, anyone who wants to get update form us directly as soon as the recruitment begins can drop a comment in the box.
