Will the finger print Scanner be something of the past? Samsung recently registered ‘Samsung Iris’ and ‘Samsung eyeprint’  trademarks. Both names which suggest they have successfully developed a new type of bio-metric scanner that can scan your retinas, and use this data as way of authentication. This technology will most likely be used on their next smartphone, the Galaxy Note 6 or Note 7 as they are rumour to be skipping the “6”. The Iris sensor will likely be located on the front beside the speaker of the Note 7. It could even eventually replace the fingerprint scanner as it is a better system than Fingerprint Recognition System. What this also means is that Samsung’s next phablet can differentiate itself on the market with a more unique feature. Every flagship device today has a fingerprint recognition system. But the Note 7 will not be the first as the Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL does have an Iris scanner, but isn’t too well known. Will it be a success? Like the fingerprint recognition system, we don’t think this will be an exciting new security feature that will change the user experience. It will be useful for when you make an online purchase with your credit card, just like you would with the fingerprint scanner. In fact, it could be more of a hassle to use, since users have to hold their phone up and wait for a retina scan. Whereas fingerprint recognition can easily be used by holding your finger over the scanner – even better with ergonomic placement of the scanner – like the Nexus 6P. You can expect the Samsung Note 7 to be launched in mid-August and will likely come with a  5.8″ display; 32GB, 64GB and 128GB internal storage and 6GB RAM.
