Zenfone 8 gets praise and beats Galaxy S21 in camera tests

The top of the line Zenfone 8, from ASUS, was evaluated in the Camera test of the specialized website DxOMark. Despite being far from the leaders in the category, which is now led by the Huawei P50 Pro, the manufacturer's Model received high praise.

The ASUS device has a set of cameras that includes a 64MP main Sony sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. It is possible to record in 4K at up to 60 frames per second or 8K at 24 fps.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Among the qualities, the phone brings good texture reproduction and low noise in almost all conditions, in addition to great video performance in terms of image stabilization, detailing, and color rendering.

On the other hand, some limitations were detected. These include exposure jitters, noise in dark places, time-consuming autofocus in high-contrast or low-light environments, and problems with dynamic depth of field. In addition, the lack of a proper lens for approximation made the cell phone receive low marks in the Zoom category.

Overall, the model launched in May 2021 scored 120 points, making it into the "Premium" category of DxOMark devices and slightly outperforming models like the Google Pixel 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S21.
