iPhone 6s Plus Camera Broken? Here’s Your DIY Guide to Fixing It (with Video)

Did the camera stop working on your iPhone 6s Plus? The good news is you can save time and money by repairing it yourself. Whether the front or rear camera is broken, here's how to replace your iPhone 6s Plus camera.

What you need
  • Pry tool or guitar picks
  • Spudger
  • Tweezers
  • Suction cup
  • P2 Pentalobe screwdriver
  • Small Phillips screwdriver
  • Replacement iPhone 6s Plus rear camera OR front camera/sensor assembly

STEP 1: Remove the two screws located on either side of the charging port.

STEP 2: Place the suction cup near the bottom of the front display, then insert the pry tool into the bottom seam just above the headphone jack. Slide the pry tool across the bottom, then up the side seams to separate the adhesive.

STEP 3: Simultaneously lift the suction cup while you pry at the bottom seam to create separation, then lift the display assembly until it hinges 90 degrees at the top.

STEP 4: Remove the five display assembly bracket screws, then remove the bracket.

STEP 5: Use the spudger to disconnect the display assembly connectors, then remove the display assembly.

STEP 6: Remove the two battery cable bracket screws, then the bracket.

STEP 7: Use the spudger to disconnect the battery cable.

Replace the rear camera

STEP 1: Use the tweezers to remove the tape covering the rear camera.

STEP 2: Remove the two camera bracket screws, then the bracket.

STEP 3: Use the spudger to disconnect the camera cable and remove the rear camera completely.

STEP 4: Insert the replacement rear camera, then follow these steps in reverse order to reassemble your iPhone 6s Plus.

Replace the front camera

STEP 1: Remove the three speaker bracket screws, then the speaker bracket.

STEP 2: Use the spudger to pry the front camera up out of its socket, then use the tweezers to remove the speaker.

STEP 3: Use the spudger to pry up the light sensor, microphone, and speaker gasket to make room to remove the front camera.

STEP 4: You can now remove the front camera/sensor assembly completely.

STEP 5: Insert the replacement front camera/sensor assembly, then follow these steps in reverse order to reassemble your iPhone 6s Plus.
