Flipsy.com shows you the extra steps you need to take to erase your iPhone 6 Plus and safely sell it.

If you're ready to sell your iPhone 6 Plus it's critical you completely erase your data first, including your cloud connections, online accounts, bank access, credit card numbers, and photos. If you don't, your data will be at risk and you will be more susceptible to identity theft. Unfortunately, many guides omit critical steps necessary to completely wipe your device. Here, Flipsy.com fills in the blanks so you can safely sell your iPhone 6 Plus.

STEP 1: Turn off iMessage (optional)

You only need to complete this step if you're switching to a non-iOS (Apple) device.

  • Browse to SETTINGS > FACETIME and turn FaceTime off

STEP 2: Delete credit cards from Safari

In STEP 3, you'll delete your Touch ID fingerprint impressions and credit card numbers from iPhone 6 Plus storage, but Safari could retain your credit card information. Let's clear that now.
  • Browse to SETTINGS > SAFARI > AUTOFILL > CREDIT CARDS
  • If any credit cards are stored there, delete them

STEP 3: Erase your iPhone 6 Plus

In this step you'll complete several critical actions in one fell swoop: disable Activation Lock, turn off Find My iPhone, delete ApplePay and Wallet credit card information and Touch ID impressions, and reset your iPhone 6 Plus to factory settings
  • Browse to SETTINGS > GENERAL > RESET
  • Select ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS
  • Enter your passcode
  • Select ERASE IPHONE
  • Enter your iCloud passcode
  • Select ERASE
