How to Keep Mac’s Media Keys Fixed to iTunes in macOS High Sierra

Just like many users, I'm also slightly peeved with the way Media Keys function in macOS High Sierra. Unlike before, they are no longer specific to iTunes or any other media apps.

Now, they are also used to controlling any video or audio playback. The annoying part is that you won't be able to play, pause or skip tracks when any video is playing in your web browser. Fortunately, there is a way you can keep your Mac's Media Keys Fixed to iTunes or any other media apps in macOS High Sierra.

Milan Toth, a well-known developer, has come up with a viable solution to restoring media keys to their previous function. The app called “High Sierra Media Key Enabler” allows you to make media keys function as before on your Mac.

How to Keep Media Keys Fixed to Only iTunes and Other Media Apps in macOS High Sierra

Step #1. Launch Safari or any web browser on your Mac.

Step #2. Now, go to High Sierra Media Key Enabler website.

Step #3. Next, you need to download the app.

Step #4. Next up, click Downloads folder on your Dock or in Finder and then click the app to open it.

Step #5. Click Open.

That's it!

The app works as a useful Menu Bar utility. Another important thing about this app is that there is nothing to configure and as it works very intuitively.

However, it's only compatible with physical keys and doesn't support the Touch Bar on the latest models of MacBook Pros.

Wrap up:

As far as functionality is concerned, I have found “High Sierra media key enabler” very reliable. If you are also not happy with the functioning of media keys, give this app a try. Let me know your views in the comments below.
