macOS High Sierra is finally here! Apple has already rolled out the developer beta for testing. If you have the developer account, you can easily download and install Macos High Sierra beta on your Mac and start testing this supremely advanced OS.
Before running ahead with the process, make sure your Mac is compatible. Also, take a backup of your computer with Time Machine to remain on the safer side of the stream—in case something untoward happen.
How to Download and Install macOS High Sierra on Mac
macOS High Sierra is compatible with:
- iMac: Late 2009 or newer
- MacBook and MacBook Retina: Late 2009 or newer
- MacBook Pro: Mid 2010 or newer
- MacBook Air: Late 2010 or newer
- Mac Mini: Mid 2010 or newer
- Mac Pro: Mid 2010 or newer
Backup Your Mac with Time Machine
Step #1. Connect an external hard disk or Time Capsule with a USB, Thunderbolt cable or FireWire. Next, click on the Apple icon at the top-left corner of the screen.
Step #2. Click on System Preferences in the drop-down menu.
Step #3. Next up, you have to select Time Machine.
Then, turn the Time Machine Slider to On position.
Step #4. Click on Select Backup Disk and choose the disk you wish to use.
Now, allow the backup be completed peacefully
How to Download and Install the macOS High Sierra on Mac
Step #1. Go to developer.apple.com on your Mac and click on the Develop.
Step #2. Next, you need to click on the Downloads tab and then sign in with your developer account.
Step #3. Scroll down and click on the Download button for macOS High Sierra.
Now, App Store will open. You need to log in with your developer account username and password.
Step #4. Click on Redeem to download the developer beta.
- Just in case, you don't see redeem code in the text field, you may have to copy and paste the code from the Downloads page next to macOS High Sierra.
- If you see the message “This code has already been redeemed,” you need to download the macOS developer preview from the Purchased section of the Mac App Store.
Step #5. After the beta has been downloaded on your device, you need to install the software. Just click on Continue and Agree to Terms and Conditions.
Step #6. Click on Install.
Follow through the instructions to install the beta.
Your Mac will reboot now. Once it has restarted, the all new macOS will be on your device. Click on Continue and log in with your Apple ID and password.
Step #7. In the end, click on Get Started.
