Google has officially unveiled Android 14 after months of beta testing. It was unveiled alongside the Pixel 8 series phones and the Pixel Watch 2.
Android 14 entered Developer Preview 2 for Pixel Devices in early March of this year and was rumored to launch alongside the company’s latest Pixel devices.

The latest Android version introduces an updated customization picker that makes it easier to switch between wallpapers and update what you want to see. Additionally, you’ll be able to set custom lock screen shortcuts for easy one-tap access to your most used controls.
You will also be able to choose from a set of new lock screen templates for fonts, widgets, colors, and formats. These also use AI to adjust your screen based on your situation.
Generative AI wallpapers will also come to Android 14 but will be rolled out for Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.
The company has also built in Health Connect into the settings of the new version. This is a way to store all your data in one place and stay in control of your privacy.
As far as your data goes, you’ll now also be asked to grant apps permission to information like your location. Moreover, you’ll be notified when an app is sharing location data with third parties.
Other features include:
- a more intuitive improved magnifier for users with low-vision
- the ability to set your magnification to “Keep on when switching apps”
- a new font size Quick Settings tile for easier readability
- monochromatic theme
Android 14 is rolling out to supported Pixel devices. However, Google mentioned that later this year, the latest Android version will be available on Samsung Galaxy, iQOO, Nothing, OnePlus, OPPO, realme, Tecno, vivo, Xiaomi, and more.
