If you’re looking for a splash of jewellery-based Colour to brighten up your outfit and lift your mood, then the unisex collection from Baekke might just give you the glow you need. 

These innovative bracelets allow you to switch up your colour choices every day by simply swapping out the clip-on beads, creating a variety of looks in just a few seconds. 

There are several options available in various colourways, or alternatively, you can design your own unique bracelet to suit your style, selecting the number and colour of the beads you want to add. The basic C-shaped bracelet — available from £44 — is made from brass and comes in three different sizes: small with a 13cm opening, medium with a 15cm opening, and large with a 17cm opening. 

The company was founded in Denmark in 2017 and has a physical store based in Aarhus, where other products in the Baekke range are available, such as earrings and pendants. We’ve been told that the company intends to make all of these products available via the website in the near future, but for now, the rage is frustratingly limited. We hope that, once the rest of the collection drops, we’ll be able to purchase a range of different beads, too, making the choice of styles we can create even greater.

Baekke is keen to promote its commitment to making a difference in the world, which does feel a little at odds with the fact that the beads are made from non-recycled plastics. The company argues that using plastics isn’t the problem, but single-use plastics are. Its products are designed to offer such a range of styles and options that they will become long-term fixtures in your style repertoire, thanks to the versatility and durability of the materials. Once they reach the end of life, they can be fully recycled using less energy than other materials, thanks to the lower melting point. The fact that the individual parts are fully detachable also aids recycling. 

Another environmental brownie point for the Danish company is the minimal packaging they use when shipping out the products. Rather than a showy box with excess packaging around it, the package is a simple resealable bag made of paper and a (what we really hope is recycled) clear plastic front, which is then placed in a striking blue bag made of recycled bottles to protect the goods in transit. All of this is sealed into a cardboard outer, which keeps the package light, reducing the CO2 cost of shipping as much as possible.
