Fort Menscare Review: A Luxurious Skincare Routine for Every Man

Whether you’re a green tea-sipping banker or a body-building roofer, having a great skincare routine makes you look and feel great. The beauty and skincare market is vast, and there are so many products on the market it can be difficult to know where to start.

We tried out the Fort Menscare gift pack, which contains all four of the firm’s skincare products, a microfibre face cloth and a silicone exfoliator pad. The range looks stylish straight out of the box, with the dark colour scheme exuding an air of quality that we hope carries through to the product. Spoiler alert: It does.

The Products

Activated Charcoal Cleanser

This is a cleanser that’s great for men’s T-zone — the forehead, nose and chin — which tends to be slightly oilier than the rest of the face. The activated charcoal in the cleanser is highly absorbent and draws out the dirt and oils from the skin, leaving it feeling clean and fresh.

To use the cleanser, squeeze a hazelnut-sized blob onto your fingers and massage it into your skin. Don’t be put off by it being black; it very quickly creates a gentle white creamy foam that works its magic on the skin. After around 30 seconds of gently cleansing your skin, rinse thoroughly and dry.

After just the first wash, we found that our skin was left feeling pretty smooth and refreshed, and the bergamot, cedarwood and patchouli oil scents left a very pleasant yet subtle fragrance on the skin.

Exfoliating Face Scrub

The exfoliating face scrub works well for a deep-down clean to remove any dry skin. It contains tiny — really tiny — beads of volcanic pumice stone, which, when applied to the skin, are very slightly abrasive while not being at all harsh.

We used a relatively small amount of the scrub and massaged it in. While it didn’t make a foam, it felt surprisingly light and silky, given that it’s an exfoliator. We were worried that it might feel rather gritty, as some exfoliators do, but the minute scale of the particles ensured the scrub was as smooth as butter, making it great for those with more sensitive skin. Rinse it off thoroughly and pat your face dry with the microfibre cloth, and you’ll love how it leaves your skin feeling.

Anti-Fatigue Gel Serum

Having cleansed, we turned to the Anti-Fatigue Gel Serum because who doesn’t want to keep their skin looking toned and youthful? The gel contains vitamins C and E, radish root extract and retinol, and is supposed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It might take more than a few tries to see results on me, but I’m happy to persevere.

A pump of the gel serum went surprisingly far, so don’t be too overzealous. It rubbed in well without leaving the skin feeling oily, just hydrated and smooth.

Anti-Fatigue Moisturiser

Fort Menscare recommends using the Anti-Fatigue moisturiser after the gel serum, so we gave that a whirl, too. It has a much creamier texture than the gel and doesn’t glide on the skin quite so freely. Having said that, it only required a couple of pumps, and there was plenty to go around the whole face and neck area.

The moisturiser includes a few other oils, as well as hyaluronic acid, to plump the skin, rehydrate, and keep wrinkles and lines at bay.

The Cleaning Tools

Microfibre Face Cloth

The gift box comes with a stylish branded microfibre face cloth, which is great for drying the skin between cleaning and moisturising. The fabric feels soft and gentle against your freshly cleansed face, and once used, it’s quick-drying — great for travelling, as it can be shoved into your wash bag without being sopping wet.

Silicone Exfoliator

The silicone exfoliator is a great little piece of kit — tiny and yet perfectly formed! The face has two different textures of little silicone nobbles, which you can use to gently apply the cleansing products and massage deep into the skin for a real deep cleanse. On the back, the small handle that you can use to grip the exfoliating pad between your fingers is also a suction cup, so once you’re done, you can attach it to the sink or shower wall to dry it off before your next use.

A brilliant little idea that once you’ve used it, you won’t know how you lived without it.

Fort Menscare: The Verdict

The Fort Menscare range of products leaves you feeling refreshed and fragrant. The scent is never overwhelming, but this one might not be for you if you aren’t a fan of bergamot and cedarwood.

Individually, the above products are available for a total of £100, but Fort bundles it into a Gift Box, currently available for £57. There’s also a subscription model, so you’ll never forget to top up on the products as you run low. There is no permanent discount on the prices for signing up, but at the time of writing, there is a 20% discount for signing up, which will last for the lifetime of your subscription, which sounds like a good deal to us.

If you want to change your skincare routine, then Fort Menscare is an option we’d be happy to recommend.
