Milan Design Week officially got underway yesterday with some of the world’s biggest design and tech studios showcasing their innovations. One such company is Bang & Olufsen, who has revealed its latest TV in the Beovision Harmony, complete with folding butterfly wing-like units.

To give it its full title, the LG OLED C9 77” TV is screened by a folding butterfly wing-like unit that partially covers the TV’s display when turned off, and opens up when turned on to reveal the full screen. Available in crafted oak and aluminium, or a mixture of grey melange two-tone fabric and aluminium, the wings house the TV unit’s sound components.

Tuned by hand and ear to achieve the very best in sound performance, the Beovision Harmony features a specially-designed engraved pattern that channels acoustic sounds through a fully active DSP-based sound centre. Alongside enhanced self-illuminating pixels, the sound system can also link with up to eight Beolab 18, Beolab 50 and Beolab 90 speakers.

The Beovision Harmony is the latest piece of technology from Bang & Olufsen to walk the tightrope between interior design and performance following the modular Beosound Shape and the monolithic Beosound Edge. As with the aforementioned speakers, the design of the Harmony aims to minimise the initial impact of a large piece of tech in a living space while still maintaining its core purpose.

In other tech news, British loudspeaker pioneers KEF have just unveiled their new LSX compact speaker. Designed by KEF in collaboration with renowned designer Michael Young, the LSX high-resolution stereo is wrapped and finished in luxury fabric from famed Danish textile manufacture Kvadrat.
