How to Celebrate Thanksgiving in London 2018

While we may not traditionally celebrate Thanksgiving this side of the Atlantic, sitting down and stuffing your face with turkey and trimmings seems like something we can get on board with. Not only that, most capital dwellers have at least one American or Canadian friend, so it’s always good to know where’s best to get your pumpkin pie on this time of year. So to make things easy, we’ve picked out some of our favourite London venues who’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving 2018 in style on Thursday 22nd November.

Balthazar Thanksgiving 2018

Location: 4-6 Russell Street, WC2B 5HZ.
Nearest Tube: Covent Garden

Balthazar was born and bred in New York City and has come a bit of a London Thanksgiving institution over the years. Whether you’re an American in London looking for somewhere to celebrate the holiday, or just like the sound of roast turkey and pecan pie, on Thursday 22nd November, Balthazar’s £55 set menu is guaranteed to be a winner. They’ll also be serving a brand new American Whiskey cocktail.

Rail House Café Thanksgiving 2018

Location: Nova Victoria, 8 Sir Simon Milton Square, SW1E 5DJ.
Nearest Tube: Victoria

If you’re a homesick American and want to spend your Thanksgiving with others, the Rail House Cafe is the perfect place to head. It’s all about the community here, so whether you’re flying solo, in a pair, or in a small group, the RHC is putting on some sharing tables where you can mingle with old friends as well as make some new ones. Priced at £40 per head, the menu platter comes with a roast Norfolk turkey, cornbread and sausage stuffing, mac ’n’ cheese, glazed sprouts and bacon, maple-butter sweet potato and green beans with praline. You’ll also get a cinnamon old-fashioned as a welcome, and of course a slice of pecan pie or pumpkin brûlée pie for afters.

The Crown and Shuttle Thanksgiving 2018

Location: 226 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6PJ.
Nearest Station: Shoreditch High Street

If you after something livelier, The Crown and Shuttle’s legendary Thanksgiving party is back for 2018 and it’s bigger than ever. There’ll be an East London take on traditional Thanksgiving grub with New England clam and corn chowder served up with cornbread, beef shortrib chilli, and of course a turkey dinner served up with pigs in blankets, collard greens and cranberry sauce. There’ll also be a whole load of yankee tipples and an all American playlist throughout the evening.

The Blues Kitchen Thanksgiving 2018

Location: 111-113 Camden High Street, NW1 7JN.
Nearest Tube: Camden Town

Another taste of the Deep South offering for your Thanksgiving meal, The Blues Kitchen is always a great place to head if you’re after some live music and a bit of a dance after your feast. This year’s Thanksgiving menu centres on a southern feast of gumbo, cornbread, buttermilk fried turkey and a delicious sounding twice-baked mac ’n’ cheese. And don’t forget there’ll be some sweet pumpkin pie and marshmallow to finish things off. Tickets are £29.95 and you’ll be treated to honky tonk barroom tunes from The Jambalaya House Band. The Blues Kitchen’s Shoreditch and Brixton venues will also be celebrating the occasion in similar fashion too.

Boondocks Thanksgiving 2018

Location: 205 City Road, EC1V 1JT.
Nearest Tube: Old Street

True to their all-American ethos, London stalwart Boondocks will be partying USA style this Thanksgiving. The all-you-can-eat menu is £45 per head and will include the likes of a spiced and roasted turkey, green bean casserole, buttermilk biscuits, sweet potato casserole with marshmallows and wild mushroom sourdough stuffing. Naturally, there’ll also serving egg nog, mulled wine, and hot buttered cider to wash things down too.

Rileys Sports Bar Haymarket Thanksgiving 2018

Location: 80 Haymarket, SW1Y 4TE.
Nearest Tube: Piccadilly Circus

For many in the States and in the UK, Thanksgiving is less about the food and more about the sport. So while Rileys Sports Bar will be serving a 3 course meal with sweet potato soup, roast turkey and pumpkin pie, you might be more interested in the three NFL games which’ll follow on London’s largest 4K screen. Yes, sit down for some grub then drink the night away with the Bears vs Lions, Redskins vs Cowboys and Falcons vs Saints games.

Christopher’s Thanksgiving 2018

Location: 18 Wellington Street, WC2E 7DD.
Nearest Tube: Covent Garden

If you want to really push the boat out, London’s original American restaurant, Christopher’s, always puts on a show at Thanksgiving. For 2018, the all-day menu may be slightly more expensive than others on our list at £65 per person, but it does feature the likes of scallops, bass, rib-eye, organic turkey and baked-peanut-butter-and-graham-cracker cheesecake for dessert. So your wallet will forgive you even if your stomach won’t…
