One of the upsides (or downsides depending on how you look at it) is the handwriting recognition ability of the PPC. One of the premiere applications for doing this is Calligrapher. I've used Calligrapher ever since I owned my first PPC and have not found it's equal in any other application.
Calligrapher has recently released a beta version of Calligrapher 8.
CalliGrapher 8 brings a whole new way of entering handwritten data called Write Pad. At the bottom of the screen lies an area where users handwrite their information that will be recognized.
Some other changes to Calligrapher include:
- Attachable and floating keyboard
- Extended CalliGrapher toolbar and Write Pad that occupies the entire width of the screen in landscape mode
- New color picker to select ink and pad colors
- Support for Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0
