Xiaomi Mi 6X full review: The new mid-range flagship has arrived

After a month-long period of speculations, rumors, and renders, Xiaomi has finally unveiled the Xiaomi Mi 6X. The device has finally been launched with some seriously insane specifications (insane for the price point the company has launched the device).

The prime highlight of the device is the dual Camera setup at the back which, as claimed by the company, will simply outperform the likes of flagships like the Oppo R15 and even the iPhone X. Now, this is a pretty bold statement to make.

Xiaomi Mi 6X: Full specifications

Talking first of all about the camera of the device, the Xiaomi Mi 6X boasts of a dual rear camera setup (a 12 MP Sony IMX486 with f/1.75 aperture and 1.25 μm pixel size plus a 20 MP Sony IMX376 sensor) which results in an amazing smartphone photography.

The predecessor of the Mi 6X or the Mi A2, the Xiaomi Mi A1 was one of the most critically acclaimed smartphones of last year owing to the fact that the device had a pretty potent camera. The Mi 6X takes things to the next level with a much-improved camera setup.

The front camera of the device has also been improved. We get a 20 MP Sony IMX376 sensor at the front of the device as well, the photos taken from which took all of us by surprise some days ago.

Both the rear and the front cameras sport AI capabilities with over 200 scenes and 12 different portrait modes.

Talking about the other specifications of the device, the Xiaomi Mi 6X comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset clocked at 2.2 GHz along with an Adreno 512 GPU. Again, the SD 660 is no flagship by any means, but it certainly gets the job done. All the major apps and games would run without any hiccups whatsoever.

Coming to the memory, the Mi 6X is available in three memory variants – 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB, and 6GB/128GB.

Moving on to the display, the Xiaomi Mi 6X sports a 5.99-inch LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The fingerprint scanner lies at the rear of the device. On top of the fingerprint scanner, you can also unlock the device using the face unlock mechanism. The device will be powered by a 3,010 mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0.

About the OS of the device, the Mi 6X runs on MIUI 9.5 out of the box which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo along with the support for Project Treble which means swift updates for the devices are a guarantee. Globally, the device is going to be launched as the Xiaomi Mi A2 which will run on stock Android 8.1 Oreo as part of the Android One program.

The Mi 6X is available in 5 color variants – Cherry Pink, Flame Red, Sand Gold, Glacier Blue, and Black and the official price of the device starts from CNY1,599 which translates to around $250 or €210.
