Android 14 QPR1 Beta 2 is out for Pixel phones

Google today releases the second Beta of Android 14 QPR1 for Pixel phone owners. This update comes one day after the official release of Android 14 and two weeks after the release of the first beta of Android 14 QPR1. Today’s patch fixes a couple of issues impacting system stability, read on to know more details.

Google kicks off the new software to the eligible Pixel phones with U1B2.230922.006 firmware version number. It is an incremental patch, which means it requires a small amount of data for installing the update. You can quickly update your Pixel to the second beta. Google has officially shared all details in the Android Beta Program community on Reddit as well as on the Android Developers website.

Talking about eligibility, then the Android 14 quarterly platform release is limited to these phones – Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet. The update is also available for the recently announced Pixel 8 series phones.

Moving to the changes, then Android 14 QPR1 Beta 2 comes with bug fixes and optimizations for platform stability. The release notes confirm three fixes, including the issue where the Settings app crashed while connecting a new Bluetooth device, scrolling animations stutters issue addressed, as well as the issues impacting system stability.

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the Settings app to crash when a user accessed system Bluetooth settings after pairing a device.
  • Fixed an issue on some devices where the scrolling animation sometimes stuttered or paused.
  • Fixed various issues that were impacting system stability and performance.

If you own a compatible Pixel smartphone, then you can join the Android Beta Program and update your phone to the second beta of Android 14 QPR1. Once upgraded to the new beta, you can use the Android Beta Feedback app to submit problems or issues available on the beta.
