The long-awaited moment has arrived! Nothing finally starts rolling out the anticipated Nothing OS 2.0 stable update to the Phone 1. The big incremental upgrade weighs 1GB in size and boasts a flurry of new features and optimizations including new home screen customizations, Nothing Widgets, Glyph Interface 2.0, and more.

A mere week ago, the company hinted at this development by sharing a tweet with the phrase “The wait is almost over,” along with additional details confirming that the update for Nothing Phone 1 would arrive the following week. The company has fulfilled its promise and the Phone 1 users can now access the features of Nothing OS 2.0.

Back to the rollout, then at the moment, the update is available to a limited number of users. A wider rollout to commence in a matter of time. Nothing is pushing the new software to Phone 1 with a 2.0.2 version number. The stable Nothing OS 2.0 update bumped up the monthly security patch to August 2023.

A massive shoutout to the entire mobile development and test team working diligently to make Nothing OS 2.0 happen for Phone (1).
• Homescreen Customization
  • New visual identity that feels unmistakably Nothing.
  • Updated launcher grid layout, supporting the option to hide icon labels.
  • More options for customizable folders, try out different layouts and folder covers by expanding the folder.
• Nothing widgets
  • Updated the design for the following widgets- Clock, Weather, Quick Look, Also introduced the new Quick Settings widget, allowing you to access settings even quicker.
  • Widgets are now also available on lock screen and AOD.
• Glyph Interface 2.0
  • Essential notifications – allow your most important apps and contacts to leave a persistent Glyph, so you know at a glance if you have any important missed notifications.
  • Glyph torch – Long press the Torch Quick Settings tile to light up the entire Glyph interface.
• New Apps Features
  • Introduced Cloned app allowing you to operate multiple accounts in apps without having to log out.
  • Introduced App Locker – protect your apps by requiring another unlock when attempting to open.
• Other Improvements
  • Updated auto-brightness logic
  • Many (and I do mean many) improvements to optimize your Phone (1) experience.

If you own the Nothing Phone 1, then you can head over to Settings > System > System Update and install the latest update on your device. In case the update isn’t available yet, you can manually sideload the OTA on your device.

Nothing Phone 1 Nothing OS 2.0 OTA File

If you are in a haste and want to sideload the update manually on your device, then you can download the OTA file and install it. First you need the OTA package, here’s the download link.

Once you have the package downloaded on your smartphone, you can go to the Settings > About Phone > Software version and confirm that your phone is running on Nothing OS 2.0.2 beta version. If your phone is running on older software, make sure to update it.

If your phone is running on Nothing OS 2.0.2, then create a folder named “ota” in the internal storage, and copy the file inside the folder.

Now open the dialer on your Nothing Phone and type *#*#682#*#*, it will open the lock update tool, which allows you to sideload the Nothing OS 2.0 stable.

Then tap Directly Apply OTA from the selection option, it will start installing the beta on your device. Once done restart your device.
