How to Install iPadOS 17 Beta on iPad

Are you eagerly waiting for the public release of Ipados 17, the next major software version for iPads? While it’s still a couple of months away, those who can’t wait to try iPadOS 17 and its features can join the Beta program which is now available. Here, we will guide you on how to install iPadOS 17 on your iPad.

The second developer beta of iPadOS 17 is currently available, and the public beta is expected to be released next month in July. And it will be available to everyone in September or October along with the launch of the iPhone 16 series.

Last year iPad users missed out on the lock screen personalization, which was the main attraction of the iOS 16. Thankfully, the lock screen personalization now arrives on iPad with the latest iPadOS 17. This means iPad users can finally enjoy the depth effect wallpapers on the lock screen. As mentioned earlier you can install beta build to test these features, but for that, you will need to know if your iPad is eligible for iPadOS 17. The official supported device is already out. You can check the list of iPads eligible for iPadOS 17.

  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 10.5-inch
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later)
  • iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad (6th generation and later)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)

How to Get iPadOS 17 Beta

With one of the iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 build, Apple removed the beta profile system. Earlier we had to download and install a specific beta profile to get the beta update. But now the process is different. All you need is your account, and based on your account you will receive beta updates.

Create Developer Account

The iPadOS 17 beta is currently accessible to developers, requiring a developer account for access. However, even a free developer account is eligible for the beta. If you prefer not to switch to a developer account, you can wait for the release of the Public Beta, which is typically available a few hours later than the developer beta. But as of now Public beta is not released, it is expected to be available in July.

You can easily enroll for the developer account from Apple’s developer page: https://developer.apple.com/programs/enroll/

Sign In with your ID

To participate in the iPadOS 17 beta, ensure that you have signed in with your Apple ID on the iPad you wish to test it on. If you prefer the developer beta, sign in with an Apple ID enrolled in the Developer program. However, if you opt for the Public Beta, there is no need to enroll in a developer account.

How to Download iPadOS 17 Beta on iPad

Make sure you are logged in with your Developer ID or general ID n your iPad.

  1. Open Settings on your iPad.
  2. Navigate to General > Software Update.
  3. Here you will see two options at the top, Automatic Updates and Beta Updates. Tap the Beta Updates option.
  4. Now select the iPadOS 17 Developer Beta, or the iPadOS 17 Public Beta (one of them will be available based on your account eligibility). iPadOS 17 public beta is expected to release in July.
  5. Once you opt for the iOS 17 Beta you will see the beta update right away in the Software Update page.
  6. Tap on Download and Install to enjoy iOS 17 on your iPhone.
  7. That’s it.

As of now (on June 23), only the developer beta is available, The public beta will be released next month in July. Fortunately, the developer beta is also available for free developer accounts. You can wait for the Public Beta, which will be more stable.
