In celebration of National Video Games Day, we thought we’d ask the Fasetto crew about their favorite video games of all time. Here’s what they told us:

“SOCOM for Playstation 2 was one of the first online competitive games on a console system. Through the game battles website, I could arrange competitive matches against other clans, climb my way to the top of the ladder and see where my friends and I stacked up against everyone else across the world.

Halo 3, meanwhile, was the ultimate competitive first-person shooter and helped bring E-Sports to where it is today for console. This was just an overall amazing game, and it was great for LAN parties. I remember hosting some 8-person LANs, Playing against friends. Pizza, drinks, good times.”

“Without a doubt, the two games that left the biggest impression on me were The Witcher 3 and Diablo 2. I spent more hours playing those two than I’d like to admit. The Witcher 3 had the greatest, deepest story that I’ve ever experienced in any game, and Diablo 2 was the perfect game to just lose myself for hours through a fun, rhythmic and repetitive gameplay style. It kept egging me on.”

“Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain was the first game I needed a walkthrough for some help, and since it was before easy internet access, I had my mom print it out at her work! Certain things unlocked at specific times during the day, so if you didn’t know, you would totally miss things! I remember spending many, many hours on that game.
Hydro Thunder is a game I’ve been addicted to since I played it at the Minnesota State fair in the arcade and at Aladdin’s Castle at the mall. I have almost purchased the arcade unit multiple times but finding room is hard. The day I find time, I will be making a Hydro Thunder pinball machine.
Altered Beast was the first Sega Genesis game I ever played at a friend’s house. I was on a mission to get my own Genesis and ended up buying the game at a pawn shop, without the case. Just the other year, at a gaming expo, I found an Altered Beast case and the dealer said I could have it if I could name off all the beasts you turned into. I got my case and the game is now complete! It is also one of the only games my dad and I played – and we beat it.”

“The two games that bring back the most memories for me are Vexx and Star Wars Battlefront 2. I spent so much time playing these with my brother. We spent an entire summer playing Vexx and we never even bought the game, we just kept renting it over and over again. We probably could have bought it for all the money we spent on rental!
I feel like I spent a lifetime playing Star Wars Battlefront 2. I was flying around as Jango Fett or blasting away as an ARC Clone Trooper in that game for the majority of my teenage years. Those were the good old days when all you needed was Cheetos and Mountain Dew to survive.”
