Huawei Mate20 Pro vs P20 Pro: A battle of Pros

Huawei redefined the course of smartphone photography when it launched the revolutionary Huawei P20 Pro featuring triple Leica lenses. The phone was soon hailed for its photography prowess as it earned the highest ever DxO mark rating 109. But that didn’t stop the Chinese giant from innovating further and what followed was another breakthrough in Huawei mobiles in India with the launch of another refined flagship, the Huawei Mate20 Pro. Let’s take a look at where the Mate20 Pro moves away from the previous flagship P20 Pro and makes a difference.

Screen:

The Mate20 Pro packs a 6.39-inch screen, which is is not only larger than P20 Pro’s 6.10-inch screen, but comes with a higher-res panel. Color saturation and viewing angles are also a notch above.

Fingerprint Sensor:

Unlike the fingerprint sensor on the front of P20Pro, the Mate20 Pro sports an in-display sensor, which has freed up a lot of room at the bottom bezel, resulting in a significantly thinner bottom bar on the P20 Pro.

Third lens:

The Mate20 Pro has switched the monochrome module on P20 Pro for a wide angle lens, which is much more useful in day-to-day shooting scenarios. However, the monochrome pictures can still give the monochrome pics on P20 Pro a run for their money.

Processor:

The Kirin 980 in the Mate20 Pro is also a huge upgrade from the 970 in the P20 Pro. It is more energy efficient and blazing fast, a difference which becomes noticeable when playing intensive games, where Mate20 Pro outperforms the P20 Pro.

Battery:

The Mate20 Pro not only has a larger 4200mAh battery, but it can charge other phones as well with the Reverse Wireless Charging feature. The phone outlasts P20 Pro, delivering a longer battery life aided by fast charging.

Huawei has sneaked numerous updates in its Mate 20 Pro, making sure that it truly remains their best flagship among other Huawei mobiles in India. It’s rated IP68 for dust and water resistance (versus IP67 for the P20 Pro), it comes with Bluetooth 5.0, and there’s the faster charging standard as well. All of these changes together have made the device more premium and refined.
