Apple Advances in Renewable Energy & Water Sustainability Initiatives

Apple is ramping up its efforts in renewable Energy and water sustainability as part of its broader environmental strategy, targeting complete carbon neutrality across its operations and supply chain by 2030.

Lisa Jackson, the vice president of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives at Apple, emphasized the importance of clean energy and water for fostering healthy communities and sustaining responsible business practices.

“We’re racing toward our ambitious Apple 2030 climate goal while taking on the long-term work to transform electrical grids and restore watersheds to build a cleaner future for all,” Jackson stated.

The company has significantly expanded its clean electricity capacity, now exceeding 18 gigawatts, which marks a threefold increase since 2020.

This growth has been primarily fueled by solar energy projects in the U.S. and Europe, supporting both Apple’s operational needs and the electricity demands of its customers’ devices.

In addition to its energy initiatives, Apple is focusing on water conservation, particularly in regions where water resources are under severe stress.

The company aims to replenish 100% of the freshwater it uses in its corporate operations in these areas.

Through partnerships focused on restoring aquifers and rivers, Apple has already committed to contributing nearly 7 billion gallons of water benefits over the next two decades. Moreover, Apple’s Supplier Clean Water Program has helped conserve more than 76 billion gallons of water since its launch in 2013, demonstrating the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.
