iOS 18 promises to grant Iphone Users unprecedented control over their Home Screen layout. According to insiders, while app icons are expected to adhere to an invisible grid to maintain a degree of uniformity, the forthcoming update will introduce much-anticipated flexibility in icon arrangement.

This includes the innovative capability to intersperse blank spaces, rows, and columns among app icons, allowing for a more personalized and organized Home Screen.

The initial whispers of a “more customizable” Home Screen under iOS 18 were brought to light by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Although existing apps like Shortcuts and Widgetsmith already offer ways to customize the Home Screen and generate blank app icons, the native personalization features slated for iOS 18 are poised to offer a seamless and official solution.

The customization of the iPhone’s Lock Screen, introduced with iOS 16, hinted at Apple’s direction towards offering users more personalization power. With iOS 18, it is expected that the Home Screen will undergo its most significant makeover in years, expanding customization options to foster a more personalized user interface.

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June is the anticipated venue for the unveiling of iOS 18. Beyond the Home Screen enhancements, the update is rumored to encompass a range of new features, including generative artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities for Siri and various apps, and RCS support in the Messages app facilitating better communication between iPhones and Android devices, alongside various design updates and more.
