100s of Twitter employees resign following Elon Musk email

Twitter has lost 100s more employees in a mass resignation following Elon Musk’s recent emails.

The Tesla founder reportedly sent employees an email and a Google form, asking whether they wanted to be part of Musk’s vision for ‘Twitter 2.0’. He told workers that they would need to be “extremely hardcore” and work “long hours at high intensity”, adding only “exceptional performance” would constitute a “passing grade” at the organization.

Workers had until 5 PM on Thursday to complete a Google Form and confirm their intentions to stay at the company. 100s have decided not to and have accepted severance packages.

It comes just weeks after Elon Musk laid off around half of the company’s 7,500 global employees. Since then, he’s made several high-profile sackings, getting rid of several employees through Twitter after they were found to have criticized Musk’s plans.

According to a report from The Verge, Twitter employees believe the social network could “start breaking soon” as there won’t be enough engineers to maintain the site or resolve issues.

As a result of the company’s mass resignations, Twitter has closed all office buildings and suspended badge access temporarily.
