Despite negative comments from time to time, Apple will step up and do the right thing when it needs to.
Following the destruction left by Hurricane Florence as it made landfall in North Carolina last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted: “The Carolinas are in our hearts. To our employees there, first responders and everyone in Hurrican Florence’s path, please stay safe. To help those affected, Apple is donating $1m to the American Red Cross.”

Apple routinely supports relief efforts following natural disasters and usually accepts Red Cross donations from customers through the App Store or iTunes Store.
“Storm of the Century”
Hurricane Florence made landfall on Thursday as a Category 1 storm bringing catastrophic winds, rain and flooding to the low-lying land of North and South Carolina. 17 people have been confirmed dead so far with thousands liable to be affected by the damaged caused by the storms as they eventually return home once the floodwaters have subsided.
Apple has five stores in North Carolina in Charlotte, Durham, Greensboro and Raleigh with two stores in South Carolina in Charleston and Greenville.
Apple has previously worked with the Red Cross to raise donations for other disasters including supporting wildfire relief efforts in Northern California in August and last year the company donated $5 million to Hand in Hand to better support the relief and aid missions after Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.
