Steam Crave Meson Pod Review: Nothing To Crave

The Steam Crave Meson Pod offers nothing special, it’s an average device at best that solely relies on its design to attract customers and nothing else. If you’re looking for a new pod system, there are much better options on the market. I expected better from Steam Crave than a subpar pod system and that breaks my heart.

Steam Crave Meson Pod Kit Verdict – 50%

I’m a Steam Crave fanboy, there’s never been a bad product from their stable. Correction, I was, a Steam Crave fanboy. The Meson Pod kit is so average that I am reevaluating my love for the brand that produced products such as the Ragnar, Hadron, Aroramizer, Titan and the list goes on. What once used to be a company that put effort into their gear and delivered truly unique, glorious products, is now a company that released a pod system that is so half-arsed I couldn’t bother to properly test it.

It’s the Iceberg lettuce of pod systems. Bland, flavourless and adds absolutely no value.

Design

There’s one good aspect of the Steam Crave Meson Pod, it looks fantastic. The systems have a frosted tribal graffiti look with interesting colourways and the lack of a fire button keeps it clean.

That’s where the good times end as the rest of the Meson Pod has nothing else to sway you into buying it over something like a Uwell Caliburn G3 or Vapefly Jester 2.

The Meson pod houses an (allegedly) 1000mAh battery and there’s airflow control on the back.

The pods can take 3.5ml, which is quite a bit of juice, but we’ll get to why this is an issue later. They fill up with the now standard side rubber plug.

On the bottom is a USB-C charging pod, which does charge the 1000mAh battery quite quickly, but I have my suspicions on why the battery charges so quickly.

There’s no screen here, just a Steam Crave logo cutout with 3 levels of battery indication.

There’s 4 versions of pods available, 06, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2ohm, all of which are mesh coil pods that promise tons of flavour.

I’d love to expand this section more, but there’s nothing else to talk about. It’s about as interesting as the original Geekvape Wenax M1, but somehow worse.

Performance

So it looks great, but how does it perform?

Yep, you guessed it, nothing more than average. In their defense, it’s not worse than average, but with the abundance of choices in the pod market today, you really need to do much better than average.

The 1000mAh battery I struggled to keep alive for a day and saw the red LED battery indicator more than I do my children. It charges really quickly though, but I have a sneaking suspicion there isn’t really a 1000mAh battery inside and if there is, it’s not of great quality.

The 3.5ml pods may seem like a great idea, less time spent refilling, more time enjoying that sweet strawberry coconut vapor. Bad news is, it leaks, badly. Good news, the mesh coils will be gunked up before that becomes a problem.

At least the airflow adjustment is good right? Surely they couldn’t screw that up? Yes, yes they can. At about 50% it works fine, just too airy for my likes. Anything under 50% and it wheezes like a fat kid at jogging camp. The only way I could get rid of the annoying whistle under 50% was to close it down completely, which provided absolutely zero airflow, no use. At least the gunk provides some sort of flavour, even if it is burnt sheep flavour. No matter what I tried, I couldn’t get any flavour from any of the provided pods from the Menson.

An utterly disappointing experience

Specs:

  • Size: 109mm x 25mm x 15mm
  • Battery Capacity: 1000mAh
  • Materials: Aluminum (probably)
  • Max Power: 25 watts
  • Weight: 49g

Steam Crave Meson Pod Conclusion

Just get a Uwell Caliburn G3 or Vapefly Jester 2. The Steam Crave Menson POD does not deserve your money.

With Steam Crave behind it, it had so much potential to be amazing, but what we got was a half baked copy of last years pod systems. There’s a number of fantastic minimalistic devices out there, but this, this is not it
