Motorola Edge 40 Neo official renders & specs leaked

Motorola is preparing to launch a new phone under its Edge 40 series, the Motorola Edge 40 Neo. This is the successor to last year’s Edge 30 Neo, launched with the Snapdragon 695 chipset, a 120Hz pOLED display, wireless charging, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and more.

The Edge 40 Neo is a massive upgrade as there are changes in almost every department. The phone’s specifications and design have been revealed in several leaks already. Still, now, we have the high-resolution official renders of the phone, courtesy of Sudhanshu Ambhore.

Motorola Edge 40 Neo comes in three beautiful color options with the “Pantone” color names printed on the back. The green color is named “Soothing Sea,” the Blue color is called “Caneel Bay,” and the Black color is named “Black Beauty.” The Green and Blue options have a vegan leather finish on the back. The design is similar to the Motorola Edge 40, so there is a curved display on the front with a hole punch cutout and a square camera module with a dual camera setup.

Edge 40 Neo is IP68 dust and water-resistant, has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, an under-display fingerprint scanner, weighs 170g, and is 7.8mm thick. The Edge 40 is slimmer at 7.6mm, and the reason is probably the battery size. Motorola Edge 40 Neo has a 5,000mAh battery, compared to the 4,400mAh battery of the Edge 40.

Speaking of performance, Edge 40 Neo is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1050 chipset, the first MediaTek chip with mmWave 5G support when it launched last year. This is a TSMC’s 6nm process-based chip with an octa-core CPU clocked at up to 2.5GHz. This chip supports up to 144Hz Full-HD+ displays, UFS 3.1 storage, and LPDDR5 RAM.

It is also worth mentioning that Motorola Edge 40 Neo is not the first Motorola device with a Dimensity 1050 chip. Motorola Edge 2022 was launched in August last year with the same SOC.

The Edge 40 Neo has a 6.55-inch pOLED display with up to 144Hz refresh rate and a Full-HD+ resolution, taking full advantage of the Dimensity 1050 chipset. The display on paper seems the same as on the Edge 40. But that isn’t surprising since the Edge 40 Neo is a toned-down version of the Edge 40.

The camera setup is the same as the Edge 40 – a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 32MP selfie camera.

Finally, regarding pricing, Motorola Edge 40 Neo is launching in Europe at €399, which translates to around $428 or ₹35,000. Ofcourse, if it launches outside Europe, the price will be lower as usual. The phone is reportedly coming to the Indian market, and in that case, we expect the price to be under ₹25,000, considering the Motorola Edge 40 is available at ₹29,999.
