Xiaomi Pad 6 launched in India with Snapdragon 870

The Xiaomi Pad 5 was a great value-for-money Android tablet from the brand launched in the Indian market at ₹26,999. The tablet featured the Snapdragon 860 SOC, an 8,720mAh battery, an 11-inch 10-bit LCD, and more. The brand has now launched its successor in the Indian market, the Xiaomi Pad 6. The Pad 6 starts at ₹26,999, so the pricing remains the same as last year. And for the same price, there are some significant upgrades.

In terms of build quality, the Xiaomi Pad 6 has a unibody metal build, compared to the plastic back on the Pad 5 (the frame was metallic). Even with a metal build, the Pad 6 is lighter than the Pad 5 at 490g (versus 511g). The tablet is also thinner at 6.51mm (versus 6.85mm). The tablet has Quad speakers with Dolby Atmos and dynamic channel mapping to adjust the audio based on the screen orientation.

There is a magnetic connector on the side to charge the stylus. For the keyboard, the tablet has pogo pins on the back.

On the front, Xiaomi Pad 6 has an 11-inch LCD with a 2880 x 1800 pixels resolution, up to 144Hz refresh rate, 550 nits brightness, 10-bit color depth, and Dolby Vision. For comparison, the Xiaomi Pad 5 had an 11-inch 120Hz LCD with 1600 x 2560 pixels resolution and 500 nits brightness.

Under the hood, Pad 6 has the Snapdragon 870 SOC, a significant upgrade over the Snapdragon 860 inside Pad 5. The tablet has LPDDR5 RAM (versus LPDDR4X) and UFS 3.1 storage.

The battery is bigger at 8,840mAh which is quite interesting since the Xiaomi Pad 6 is thinner and lighter than the Xiaomi Pad 5. The charging speed is the same at 33W.

The single camera on the rear has a 13MP sensor and can shoot 4K 30fps videos. The selfie camera has an 8MP sensor with 1080p 30fps video recording. So, the camera setup is the same as last year.

Other upgrades include Bluetooth 5.2,  WiFi  6, USB 3.2 Type-C port, and MIUI 14 for Pad.

Xiaomi Pad 6 comes in two colors – Graphite Grey and Mist Blue. The Mist Blue color is available with the 8GB RAM variant only. Here is the pricing for the Indian market –

  • 6GB + 128GB – ₹26,999
  • 8GB + 256GB – ₹28,999

Xiaomi also offers a flat ₹3000 discount with ICICI Bank Credit Cards and Credit EMIs. This brings the starting price down to ₹23,999 and at this price, the Xiaomi Pad 6 is a no-brainer.
