After entering the budget segment last year with its Nord series of phones, Oneplus is planning to make yet another transition, this time in terms of the chipset. So far, all the OnePlus phones have been launched with SOCs by Qualcomm, but according to the latest post by Digital Chat Station on Weibo, OnePlus will be launching a phone powered by the Dimensity 1200 from MediaTek. This might also mean that this phone from OnePlus will be cheaper than its Snapdragon-powered flagships.
Digital Chat Station also revealed that this phone has a Sony IMX766 camera sensor on the rear, which is the same 50 Megapixel camera sensor OnePlus used on its OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro smartphones. On the front, there is a single hole punch placed on the top left corner, and there is a flat display as on the vanilla OnePlus 9. He said that the camera module design is also not much different from the OnePlus 9 Pro as the only difference is that the lower right camera lens on the OnePlus 9 Pro is replaced with an LED flash. So this means there are three rear cameras in total on this upcoming Dimensity 1200-powered OnePlus device.
The phone runs on OxgenOS and not HydrogenOS which suggests, it will launch in the global markets. In China, it is expected that this phone would take the 2,000 Yuan price segment by storm.
