Redmi Note 8 2021 is just Note 8 (2019) with MediaTek Helio G85

The Redmi Note 8 series launched back in August of 2019, offering a vanilla Note 8 with a glass back, Snapdragon 665, Type-C port, 48MP IMX586 sensor, 18W fast charging, and a 4,000mAh battery. Recently, Xiaomi announced that the company sold more than 25 million units of the Redmi Note 8. To celebrate this milestone, the company is now going to launch a 2021 Edition of this phone, aptly named the Redmi Note 8 2021. There is no word on the launch date yet as the company has not revealed that, but we got to know from a source that this year’s Redmi Note 8 isn’t going to be much different than 2019’s Note 8.

According to @GadgetsData on Twitter, the Redmi Note 8 2021 is the same as the 2019 version, with the only difference being the fact that there is Mediatek Helio G85 SOC instead of the Snapdragon 665, and MIUI 12.5 runs out of the box. Apart from this, there is no difference in the specs. The Note 8 2021 has a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ LCD with Gorilla Glass 5, a 4,000mAh battery, 18W fast charging support, and a Quad camera setup including a primary 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, an 8 Megapixel ultrawide unit, and two 2MP sensors.

Well, since this phone is being launched just to celebrate the milestone of sales, it is not surprising that there are not many differences between this one and the older version. Let’s see when Xiaomi has planned to unveil the 2021’s version.
