Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G is a 6nm SOC with Adreno 642L GPU

A couple of months after announcing the Snapdragon 780G SOC, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 778G today, which, as the name suggests, is a slightly less powerful version of the 780G. The major differences include the 6nm manufacturing process compared to 5nm and Adreno 642L GPU compared to Adreno 642. Apart from these, there isn’t a massive difference between 778G and 780G since both have the same Kryo 670 CPU with the same arrangement of cores and clock speeds, the same X53 5G modem, triple ISP, WiFi 6E support, and more.

The Kryo 670 CPU includes a Cortex-A78 core clocked at 2.4GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.2GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.9GHz. There is support for up to 144Hz FHD+ display, 4K video recording at up to 30fps, mmWave as well as sub-6 5G, etc. Qualcomm says that compared to the Snapdragon 768G SOC of last year, the Snapdragon 778G offers up to 40% performance boost and up to 40% improvement in graphics rendering.

Companies including Xiaomi, Realme, Motorola, Oppo, iQOO, and Honor have also announced that they will be launching phones powered by this chipset in the coming months.
