[Unveiled] Lenovo Premium Laptops Coming This October

Starting at only $1,290, the world’s lightest OLED laptops, the Lenovo IdeaPad 14-Inch Slim 7 Carbon and the 16-inch Slim 7 Pro, will be hitting the market.

These new laptop models are aimed at creators and people who have a hybrid lifestyle working both at home and in the office.

The 16-inch Slim 7 Pro is equipped with a 16-inch QHD touch display, 100 percent sRGB color gamut compatibility, 500-nit brightness, and optional Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 discrete graphics for creators.

It comes with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. Despite this, the laptop is only 17.4mm thick at its narrowest point and weighs 2.1 kilos (4.6 pounds).

Although the Slim 7 Pro’s weight and dimensions are appropriate for a 16-inch laptop, the 14-inch Slim 7 Carbon will be more mobile while still providing enough performance.

The 14-inch laptop is 14.9mm thick and weighs a little more than a kilogram (2.4 pounds). It can be equipped with Nvidia GeForce MX450 discrete graphics and operates on up to a Ryzen 7 5800U CPU. This is a step up from integrated graphics and uncommon in an ultraportable notebook like this.

The laptop’s screen is also rather excellent. Lenovo utilized a 14-inch OLED display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 2880×1800-pixel resolution, 600-nit peak brightness, and 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut coverage.

It’s also factory-calibrated, which means it should be accurate right out of the box. Battery life is generally hampered by OLED panels, although Lenovo promises up to 14.5 hours.

The Slim 7 Carbon, like the company’s Carbon ThinkPads, is designed to withstand military-grade durability testing.

The 14-inch Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon notebook will be available in October for $1,290 (roughly £940 or AU$1,750). The 16-inch IdeaPad Slim 7 Pro laptop will cost $1,449 and will be available in October as well.

In the meantime, see some main differences between Lenovo’s IdeaPads and ThinkPads here.
