Razer Refreshes the Blade 17 and 15: Here’s All You Need To Know

If you are a fan of the Razer Blade 15 and Blade 17 then there’s good news for you. While the new Blade 15 and 17 models carry forward the good work from last year, there’s plenty of new surprises that take performance up a notch.

The first and foremost being the inclusion of a faster, more powerful processor in the form of the 11th-gen Tiger Lake-H CPUs. It is also equipped with the RTX 30 series GPU which ensures it can handle pretty much any game you want.

There’s a choice between Intel Core i7-11800H and the Intel Core i9-11900H processors. As for the GPU, there’s more flexibility as you can choose between the RTX 3060, RTX 3070, or go with the beastly RTX 3080 and 16 GB of GDDR6 memory.

Please note,  Razer has amped up the power of the RTX 3080 laptop GPU to 130-watts for the Blade 17 while for the Blade 15 models the power is around 95-watts, allowing the RTX 3080 to unleash its full potential in games.

In the end, the variant you choose comes down to your budget and the kind of games you want to play.

The chassis is a tad bigger and measures 0.78 inches x 15.5 inches (395 mm) x 10.24 inches. This, in turn, increases the thermal headroom but also adds to the weight. The new Blade models weigh around 6-7 lbs.

As for the RAM and storage, the Blade 17 has 16GB RAM with a 1TB SSD but if that doesn’t cut it for you, then you can upgrade it to a whopping 64 GB of RAM and 4 TB of storage.

Another aspect where you get multiple options is with the display. There’s a 1080p display with a 360 Hz Refresh Rate, a 1440p panel that has a 165 Hz refresh rate, or a 4K touch panel equipped with a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Irrespective of the resolution, all displays are IPS and come with 100% sRGB coverage.

Apart from that, tweaks have been made to the touchpad and webcam.

One big decision taken by Razer in the past year regarding its laptops is to drop the Pro branding. All the Pro models have been removed from Razer’s site

Last year’s models were rated #1 by Tech Sports for the best gaming laptops and the goal with the newer models remains the same.
