Is Chromebook Coming to The Gaming Scene? The First Chromebook with a Discreet AMD dGPU is in The Making

There have been reports of a Chromebook in the making going by the code name Mushu.

These reports have been speculating that Mushu comes with a dGPU which is short for discreet graphics card units.

Being the case, this would be the first Chromebook of its kind, and the only one with a dGPU.

A Chromebook like this one would easily beat any other one when it comes to Gaming.

These speculations seem to be coming to light now after some confirmations were made on the Phoronix forum by AMD.

Mushu, which is a device based on Hatch, meaning that it will come loaded with a 10th-generation processor, will also have an AMD Vega 12 dGPU.

Although it is not yet in the market, a development board has already been leaked on eBay which gives good insights on what to expect, according to Hassan Mujtaba of Wccftech.

Again, the team at Boiling Steam has also reported that there is testing already going on for this upcoming Chromebook.

This Chromebook will be a big deal because it will be the first of its kind to be able to run graphically intense PC games thanks to its high rendering power.

But the question arises: how will a Chromebook play the greatest and latest PC games if it runs on a Chrome OS based on Linux (this limits it to playing only those games that are on Google Play Store)?

This question has been answered by the verified facts that Valve and Epic have been working with Google to develop PC game fronts like Steam and Epic Games Store, both of which will be accessible on Chrome OS.

This has been confirmed by Google Exec., Kan Liu at CES 202 during an interview with the Android Police where he said that the Chrome OS team is working to have Valve’s Steam client on Chromebooks.

From the look of things, this Chromebook could be ready within the year, with some noticeable observations suggesting that Google is actually also working on a “Game Mode” for Chromebooks which gets triggered if a Chromebook player runs Borealis in full-screen mode.

If all this gets delivered, it will mean that we will start seeing Chromebooks going toe-to-toe against some of the top gaming laptops in the near future.

So, is this the future of Chromebooks with a new line of gaming Chromebooks? We can only wait and see.
